If IPL teams were cars…
Cricket fever is running high in the country, and it might not be completely true to claim to be unaffected by it. It has certainly affected us, which is why we came up with the idea of equating all eight IPL teams with the type of car they might resemble! The race is on…but will your team be the first to cross the finish line?
It depends on what car embodies their spirit. Let’s find out!
Delhi Daredevils as the Electric Car
The emphasis on playing young, high potential players is what makes Delhi Daredevils stand out among all the teams. While they have flattered to deceive on a few occasions, perhaps this can finally be their year. Under the mentorship of the legendary Rahul Dravid, one can only hope that Delhi’s youthful team will get to establish itself as the undisputed masters of the game, much like the electric cars of today.
Labelled as the future, both of them are on the rise, slowly and steadily.
Gujarat Lions as the Compact SUV
With a phenomenal debut season last year, Gujarat Lions are the talk of the town, just like a rise in the trend of compact SUVs in the country. A compact SUV packs power and style and offers a unique versatility when it comes to automobiles, much like the Gujarat Lions, who can hope to go one step further and reach the final this year banking on their swashbuckling batting order.
They might be faltering right now but you have to get on the hype train!
Kings XI Punjab as the Hatchback
Classic yet almost anonymous, you might worry that the Kings are losing their significance. Yet, they are more than capable of springing a surprise or two, which is why they are represented by the ever reliant hatchbacks. Will they last the distance? We think so. Will they reign supreme?
Seems like too much of a task this season.
Kolkata Knight Riders as the Supercar
How can anyone not drool over this team? They have provided consistent entertainment throughout IPL’s history as one of the most successful teams. Add to that a hint of glamour (courtesy SRK!) and absolute ruthlessness, and you can only see them as a supercar!
The knights in shining armour are our best bet this time.
Mumbai Indians as the SUV
The heavyweights of IPL from the traditional capital of Indian cricket, Mumbai Indians pack raw power, grit, and strength to outmuscle any team in the competition, just like an SUV trying to off-road in all its glory. Despite having a rather poor season last time around and losing the wow-factor from their squad, they are back to their best in the current campaign.
Defying the odds?
Rising Pune Supergiants as the MUV
A lot was expected of the Supergiants last season but somehow they contrived to have a terrible run. The team is loaded with heavyweights who might seem to be misfits, but one can never count out their utility in times of need, just like an MUV. They have bolstered their squad this time around, and are steadily climbing the league table.
Are we in for a surprise?
Royal Challengers Bangalore as the Luxury Car
Everyone’s second favourite team in IPL, if not the favourite, RCB have been carrying around the tag of ‘the next champions’ since forever. An ensemble comprising of some of the best cricketers in the world, it’s quite shocking to learn that they have never won the trophy, and are languishing in the bottom half of the current season. Not many can afford the luxury of such a team, just like not everyone can afford a Merc, but we all know one thing.
Sooner or later, they always come out on top.
Sunrisers Hyderabad as the Sedan
If there’s one team you can bet your life on, it is the classy and composed defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad. Just like a sedan is a safe bet when it comes to cars, this team rises to any challenge that is thrown at it. What’s more, this year they have reinforced their core and are ready to defend their crown.
Count them out at your risk.
Let us know what you think of your team, and don’t forget to celebrate victories with a raucous drive around the city in a Myles self-drive car!
